unusual and interesting photos

PART ONE

1. What is your reaction to his work?

His work kinda makes my head hurt

2. How do you think he made these photos?

He took images from three or more different angels and then made two transparent and shifted them a little bit to the left and right

3 Think about some buildings you have seen, which ones would be good to take a photo like this? Tell me about those buildings, where are they, could you get easy access to them?

I think the Empire States Building would be a cool one to do and so would the capital of building in austin. The Empire State Building is in New york and the capital is in austin. I have been up in the Empire States Building but it is far away from austin so i don't have that easy of access but the capital building i do because my mom works near it and its just downtown from where i live.

PART TWO

1. Why did you pick this photo?

I picked these pictures because they made me think of something. The motorcycle is because my uncle was a cop. The flowers on the casket because my grandpa died about five years ago and it still affects me today. The lake because it is a really good picture and it just makes me wish i could see stuff like it, and the last one i chose because its almost like if your close to death and your thinking about everything in your life that you enjoyed.

2. What category did you find this photo?

I got two of them from the photojournalist of the year (smaller markets) and the other two came from the natural disaster.

3. What award did it win (what place)?

The two from the photojournalist of the year (smaller markets) won first place. The two from natural disaster got second place but i personally liked the second place photos better

4. What did the photographer do that attracted your eye?

In the motorcycle one he has a motorcycle with cops around it and the motorcycle is a police motorcycle so it just mad me think of my uncle. the flowers on a casket made me think of the funeral that my grandpa had when he passed on. the one with the lake catching the sun just like that so its dark enough for the candles to light up the people faces was really good, and the other one all the stuff in the background makes u think its almost like a lot of thoughts in your head

5. How much do you think the subject of the photo weighed in the judges minds when they picked this photo as one of the best of 2012?

I think the judges did a really good job but the ones i got from the natural disasters should have been first place

6. What do you think the photographer had to do that was unique to getting this photo?

attend a lot of funerals with different people.

PART THREE

1. Four things every photographer should know how to do: take a photo of a reflection, take a photo of a hand, take a photo of himself/herself, and take a photo showing perspective
There are many subjects you can take that have similar forms. it is important to be able to see repeated pattens in photography and get good photos of them.
Juxtaposition you expect to see one thing and are surprised to see another

4. Did the photographer follow the suggestions fully?

I think the photographer followed the suggestions

5. Which style of painting do you think might influence you?

painting of lakes with suns setting behind them the northern lights and other stuff really cool with the world.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A lot of photographers all over the world where using photoshop to change pictures. Like the picture with the missiles he photoshoped it so that it looked like it was a completely success when three of the four missiles went of.

In some ways i think it could be acceptable but then there is the ways that it is not acceptable. like using photoshop to change the brightness and contrast is ok but using it to make a missile look like it launched is not right.

I think this one is the most unethical because they took the black guy out. its also racist because he was the only black person and now they are all white.

I think this one is the least unethical because all they did was move the pyramids together so its not really hurting anyone.

National Geographic

I chose this picture because its peaceful looking and relaxing. my life is peaceful and relaxing most of the time and this picture reminds me of it. I have also liked pictures like this since i have been alive.

If i took a picture for this contest i would try to take a picture where the sun is setting behind a lake or an ocean.

Red, Metal, Happy

this one is happy because I'm leaving and red because the red lights.

this one is red because of the pain, happy because your leaving school and metal because of the doors.

this one is red because it is red lockers and red paint it is also called the red hall

touching people

I think the project is pretty good and the photo essay is pretty neat. i think the project could bring american a little closer. If someone came up to me with a camera and asked me to participate in a photo shoot and asked me to touch a stranger. I think i would say no because it would be a little strange touching a stranger. an unusual photo shoot would be taking pictures of cars doing random stuff they usually wouldn't. The pictures are pretty good but i still wouldn't want to be one of the strangers touching each other.

40 greatest pictures of all time

This photo was taken by astronaut William Anders during the Apollo 8 mission in 1986. I chose this picture because thinking of being on the moon looking at earth seams really cool. this picture got chose for the top 40 pictures of all time because it is a historical event.

Aaron Thompson took this picture and it is a picture of Christian Golczynski accepting the flag of his father. I picked this picture because i don't think i could stand that now let along when i was eight. i think this picture got in the top 40 pictures of all time because it is really sad but also honorable.

Vanderlei Almeida took this picture and its of a dog named Leao laying at his owners grave. i picked this picture because it would be something my dog would do if i died. i think this picture got chose because it shows the loyalty of a dog to his owner and all so shows the power of friendship.
