black and white part 2

       Ansel Easton Adams was born february 20th, 1902 in San Francisco, California and he died April 22nd, 1984 in Monterey, california. adam develpoed the zone system as a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. adam mostly used the large-format cameras despite their size, weight, setup time and film cost. he used the large-format camera because its high resolution helped ensure sharpness in his images. adams's photographs are reproduced on calendars, posters and in books making his photographs widely distributed.

       Adam was born in the Western Addition of San Francisco, california to distinctly upper-class parents Charles Hitchcock Adams and Olive Bray Adams. adam was an only child and was named faster his uncle Ansel Easton. Adams mothers family came from baltimore and his grandfather had a successful freight-hauling business, but throw his wealth in failed mining and real estate ventures in nevada. Adams fathers family came from new england, having migrated from the north of ireland in the early 18th century.
